WEEKLY PRAYER UPDATES

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

-  Colossians 4:2

Remember: PRAYER MATTERS

Gavin and Janet Petersen (Portugal, DPG Day 4)
Praise God that the first GBU (university evangelistic Bible study) went very well. Pray that Janet will be restored to full health as she has been unwell recently.

Ian and Leann Buckley (Nepal, DPG Day 9)
Praise God for how smoothly the funeral went on Thursday. Pray for Ian and Leann as they return to Nepal today. Pray that their new house in Dhulikhel will be completed soon. Pray for the construction of the coffee shop and the teaching and back-translation of the ‘God Has Spoken’ book.

Steve and Roslyn Baird (Philippines, DPG Day 9)
Pray for Jairus as he has his heart operation this week. Pray for JunJun and Orise to rest in the Lord.

Wendy Strachan (Specialist, DPG Day 22)
Praise God for wisdom in the finalising of the cohort of 20 for the 2018 Leadership Experience. Pray for the participants as they find out visa requirements for South Africa. Pray for the curriculum for the LE Intensive, and for the availability of facilitators. Pray for help in administration workload. Pray for Wendy as she speaks at the Women’s Convention from 20 to 22 October. Pray for the SU Global Assembly beginning on 10 November. Pray for the election of the new board and for the leadership transition. Pray for Wendy as she prepares her Bible reflection, and as she facilitates two Breakout sessions on ‘Ministry among Children and Young People of Other Faiths’ and ‘Re-Imagining Evangelism and Discipling’. Pray that she will have time to re-connect with those whom she has met over the years through SU.

John and Remy Tan (Specialists, DPG Day 22)
John will be in Newtown from 10 to 12 October participating in an inter-mission IT conference. Please pray for the conference: the fellowship, the presentations and the knowledge to be shared. Pray for John as he is scheduled to lead devotions and to speak at one of the technical sessions.
The Finance team’s manager has returned from his Sabbatical leave. Remy continues to facilitate some of the work at Kangaroo Ground while also doing her online studies and looking after Janelle on her own while John travels. Pray for safety for them all.
Pray for the team at Kangaroo Ground through this time of change, with kitchen renovations and many people coming and going in this month of October. In particular, pray for the English Immersion Experience people from Vanuatu and Indonesia: that they may acquire enough fluency in our language to help us to work with theirs.

Our deepest condolences to Miriam (Flack) Palmer and her family on the passing away on 5 October of her mother Joyce (Flack) Jemmett, former missionary to India. The funeral will be on Friday 13 October, starting at Lithgow cemetery at 11.30 am, followed by a thanksgiving service at Lithgow Bible Church (opposite Lithgow Hospital) at 12.30 pm. Miriam’s mother had requested that if any people wanted to purchase flowers they may like instead to donate financially towards Clarence High School and Kollegal Girls' Home in India. There will be a box for this at the Bible Church. For more information please contact Miriam (, 02 6355 4104).
